Carnac Island 1/2 Day Sail

Set sail to Carnac Island. Lying between Rottnest and Garden Islands, this A class nature reserve is teeming with wildlife. Frolic with the Sea Lions or head off for a snorkel.

Lying between Rottnest and Garden Islands, this A class nature reserve is teeming with wildlife (David Attenborough has even done a documentary on the wildlife here).

Carnac Island is a leisurely 45 minute sail from Fremantle Boat Harbour, through the gentle waters of Cockburn Sound. It is an important haul out location for Australian Sea Lions and a myriad of sea birds as well as boasting spectacular diving, snorkelling and fishing. A large sheltered bay on the eastern side of Carnac provides a safe haven from the southwest wind and swell – you just might have to share the beach with some playful juvenile Sea Lions! Bottlenose Dolphins are also very common in the area and Capella is able to get closer than other boats without noisy motors to scare them off.

The clear, calm, shallow waters of Carnac island allow Capella to venture almost right up to the shore where you can literally step off into waist deep water to frolic with the Sea Lions or head off for a snorkel. If the easterly is up no worries!... The western side of Carnac is an absolute delight with high limestone cliffs plunging into the water and a truly spectacular anchorage perfect for paddling the kayaks around.

TRIP INCLUDES:

  • A leisurely cruise across to Carnac Island, Perth's hidden gem - accessible only by boat.
  • Anchor up in a beautiful bay and make use of the kayaks and stand-up paddle board
  • Frolic with the Sea Lions or head off for a snorkel (Snorkel equipment is provided)
  • Learn about the Sea Lion colonies that call Carnac Island home from our passionate guides.
  • Delicious morning tea* before sailing back to Fremantle.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Bathers & Towel
  • Sunscreen
  • Camera
  • Additional food or drink if you require** (see below)

Full Day Sail to Rottnest Island from Fremantle

A full day of sailing and snorkeling, departing from Fremantle. Feel the breeze in your hair as we sail aboard our luxury catamaran bound for Rottnest. Relax, swim, kayak or snorkel whilst we set anchor in one of the many picturesque bays.

You are invited to travel some 15 nautical miles off the Fremantle coast to the unique and stunning island of Rottnest. Your vessel is a luxury appointed 12.5 m Schionning catamaran, with 5 double berths, two WC's (Heads), four showers, swim platforms, lower-able front ladder for easy access into the water, luxuriously appointed lounged saloon, fully equipped galley, refrigerator and deep freeze with a chiller box in the cockpit deck for drinks.

Get ready drop anchor in one of the many picturesque bays to enable you to take every opportunity to enjoy our luxury catamaran - swim, kayak, recline in our cargo net or head for the reefs for a snorkel, or just snooze and relax onboard either in the comfortable trampolines up front between the hulls or on the lounged shaded rear deck. You are even welcome to take part in the sailing, raising, lowering and trimming sails or taking the helm!

CHILDREN

Although we try to be as inclusive at possible, this particular tour is recommended for ages 5 and up. This is due to the distance required to travel (18km) through fairly open waters. The journey can become unpleasant for smaller children and may in some conditions pose a safety risk. For children under 5 we recommend the shorter SNORKEL & SAIL tour option which departs directly from the Island.

For children aged 5 and up, for life jacket provisioning, please advise your child's age(s) when making a booking. Children under 10 may be asked to wear a life jacket at all times.

Morning tea and lunch is provided complimentary as part of this experience.  We offer a range of food options that caters to most tastes (variety of meats, salads, cheese, breads, fruit, cakes/pastries and coffee/teas), however if you have specific food preferences you are most welcome to bring your own. We have fridges to keep your items cold in if required. We try to be as broad as possible but are unable to cater to individual needs.  Whilst our menu is generally quite allergy-friendly, please advise us in advance of any serious allergies (i.e. anaphylaxis) that we should be aware of when handling food during pre-tour boat preparations.
